UK misses renewable energy goal, putting 2020 target in danger

The U.K. will more than likely miss a goal set by the European Union to obtain 15 percent of its energy supply from renewable sources by 2020, research groups have announced this week.

“Failure to meet the much-discussed 2010 target, in spite of very high levels of consumer subsidy, is a clear indication that the EU 2020 goals are impractical and unaffordable,” said John Constable, policy and research director for the Renewable Energy Foundation. “We need an urgent rethink.”

Last year the U.K. generated 6.5 percent of its electricity from renewable energy, coming up short of the 10% target that had been set by the former Labour party leadership.

I have always believed in solar power about cars (but also about our whole energy needs). But a friend told me one day that it would not be possible!

What Louis Palmer did is an optimistic step towards a less polluted Earth!
