Renewables are already the primary source of electricity generation in Spain

Renewable energy in Spain is now the primary source of electricity generation. In 2010, renewables accounted for 32.3% of electricity-seven percentage more than in 2009 – and 13.2% of final energy consumption. Spanish Secretary of State for Energy, Fabrizio Hernandez, communicated the data in the presentation “Energy Balance 2010 and Outlook 2011″ organized each year by the Spanish Energy Club. The increased use of renewable, with increased above 11% from last year, has improved the level of self-sufficiency by 3.1 points over 2009, reaching 25.9%.
