The nuclear industry received a boost this week when the future of two nuclear power plants was assured for the next five years. The plants, which are located at Teesside and Lancashire, passed technical and economic evaluations by British Energy (BE).
2 further plants in Hartlepool and Heysham have also been given the green light for new stations. This project will result in 1,400 jobs. An additional £50 million will be invested over the next four years. Both sites employ around 700, with 350 local jobs per site to be created as a result of the scheme.
