Austrian RAG will increase its gas reserves to six billion cubic meters

“Oil-prospecting” company RAG aims to store six billion cubic meters of gas by 2014, knowing that alternative domestic natural gas storage is gaining in importance. Power plants using natural gas are an effective backup to intermittent renewable power sources such as solar or wind energy, and can provide continuous backup energy while most conventional pumped storage power plants are depleted within two days.
