Güler Sabancı, Chairperson of Sabancı Group, one of Turkey’s largest conglomerates, said Turkey was an integral component of Europe’s energy securitySabancı said the greatest challenge of the century was the establishment of a global competitive and environment friendly energy policy. She said G-20 countries should be at the core of this policy.

Underlining Turkey’s growing significance in the energy sector, Sabancı said, “Turkey’s central role in European energy supply is natural; as on one side lies 70% of the world’s oil and gas reserves and on its other side lies the world’s second largest energy market. Turkey is an energy bridge connecting the Eastern countries rich in natural resources and Europe’s most developed markets. In the most broadest sense, Turkey is an integral part of Europe’s energy security.”
